Concept

We would like to stress that when we spin, we don't just play a track after a track like a jukebox, instead we try to make the experience of listening to our DJ set different from sitting at home and playing the same records. We mix and layer up to 6 tracks (equipment permitting) on top of each other, playing with the EQs and filters and sometimes even bringing FX processors. We speed up or slow down the vinyl (or CDs, again, equipment permitting), play them backwards, and otherwise interpret the original. There's seldom if any dancing to our sets, we prefer the audience to grab a drink, sink back into the couches, and listen. Sometimes we have strobes, movies or projections to help the listener immerse themselves into the sound and the general atmosphere of the event.

We have received a lot of e-mail regarding guest appearances, so here's a short FAQ. We like doing guest spots and are open to travel all over the Sates and Western Europe, with some ground rules. First of all, we don't do 4/4 dance sets (obviously), so if your audience expects to dance, booking NoizGuild would not be a good idea. Secondly, equipment. We require, first and foremost, a mixer with at least four independent channels. That means the mixer needs to have at least four volume control sliders (or knobs, whatever), four inputs with only two sliders won't work. We also need at least two turntables (1200's please, none of those dinky Geminis) and at least one CD player that doesn't have a problem reading CD-Rs. If you are interested in having us spin at your event, don't hestitate to contact us.

Atrocity is no more! The night that wouldn't die is finally dead. At almost two years I'd say we had a pretty good run. There were ups and downs, great nights and crappy nights, we met many like-minded individuals and great friendships have developed. All in all, it was certainly a great experience for all of us. Parting is such sweet sorrow!

Absolution (RIP) was a monthly DJ spin-off party that took place monthly at the basement of the CB's Gallery, located at 313 Bowery Street, corner of Bleecker St. There are 10-15 DJs in two rooms, spinning anything from goth to EBM to noise. NoizGuild generally went on around 2-3 am, and since we only spun for about an hour, we tried to do something conceptually different: we have done label profiles for Tesco, LOKI foundation/Power & Steel, Ant-Zen, Praxis Dr. Bearmann/Tactical, an International Series featuring American, Italian, German, British, Scandinavian and French noise and power electronics, as well as other themes... Friday, October 13th was the last Absolution ever, due to the fact that the venue got busted for a cabaret license violation. We would like to thank Jason and Althea for organizing such a great night and everyone who showed up and supported it for years. It's been great fun, but al things must come to an end...
